Cape Town In 48 Hours

by on May.15, 2010, under Club Penguin

So you’re in Cape Town on a whistle-stop trip and want to try squeeze as much of the Mother City as possible in 48 hours? You can spend a year in this beautiful city and we have not seen and experienced everything it has to offer, but let’s see what we can do to make sure you do not miss the ‘must see’ – especially for beginners. The idea of this itinerary is to whet your appetite to return as soon as possible to do Cape Town full justice! On landing at the international airport of Cape Town, we go for the sake of argument, assume your flight lands at 8 a. m. Need to reclaim their luggage, collect your car hire vehicle, and head directly to the Table Mountain Cable Way, above the center of the city of Cape Town. Leave most of your luggage and just take a backpack with money, a camera, sunscreen and a hot lid. Early arrival should ensure that there is no need to queue for long. The rotating cable car ride offers the first real look at the sprawling city and its surroundings – with a unique perspective 360 degree. Upon reaching the summit you can enjoy breakfast in the restaurant, take the time to fill out postcards to their friends bragging that you are having your first meal on the Cape in the top of one of the highest mountains of the most famous landmark the world and imposing! Do not linger too long on that second cup of coffee – you have to be through to come into the CBD for a spot of shopping and exploring. Depending on your personal taste you can enjoy browsing and buying gifts at the famous Green Market (open every day of the week and Saturday mornings), or if you prefer, you can take in an exhibition at one of art galleries and museums. The main Cape Town’s Iziko Museum is located in the heart of historic Cape Gardens of the company which in themselves provide a pleasant environment for a walk. Then, head to the Victoria & Albert Waterfront for a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants overlooking the harbor. Attract more stores and could spend all day exercising your credit card, but leave enough time for an afternoon drive around the Atlantic Coast. Enjoy Sundowners at trendy Camps Bay and Clifton beautiful – both have exquisite white sand beaches lapped by aquamarine waters, and numerous pavement cafes overlooking them. This area is ideal for hosting your first night, since there are numerous self catering luxury apartments, villas and guest houses – make sure you have reserved in advance to avoid disappointment. Once you have registered and refreshed, up to a dinner and some fun in gambling west of Grand Casino – 15 minutes drive from the CBD. If you prefer to dance, there are some great small clubs in the city, or you could go back to the waterfront and enjoy a movie or attend the theater on the right of the Bay in Camps Bay, which almost always has an excellent production on the fly. Once again, plan and book ahead. Local newspapers and the magazine Time Out will have details on what is in entertainment-wise. No matter how tired you feel when you finally fall into bed, set the alarm so that you’re on the road early. If you’re really keen you can even see the sunrise! In any case, take a leisurely stroll against the daily traffic, to Hout Bay. Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and perhaps browse through the shops next to the port and the market. Then get your camera ready for a spectacular drive – more than Chapman’s Peak which undoubtedly offers the most stunning ocean views and mountain views anywhere. At the end of the pass is Noordhoek. If you’ve planned ahead you can go horseback riding for an hour along the wide expanse of beach. Make sure you’re behind the wheel at the time of taking the winding coastal road past Kommetjie, through Scarborough. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch followed by a walk to the viewpoint of the tip of the African continent. Later in the unit in Simon’s Town and be fascinated by the Jackass Penguin colony at boulders and Seaforth beaches. The newly built Penguin Centre offers a wealth of information about these strange and beautiful seabird. Then head along the coastal road from Muizenberg, Strandfontein near Stellenbosch in the heart of the Cape Wine Route. Book at Spier Wine Estate and dine in the extremely unique and beautiful Moya, a restaurant Spier. Moya often has live music, dance or theater. Find out in advance and book guarantees a good night’s sleep will follow. . . Okay, so we’re cheating and you are adding a couple of hours, but really, how can we blame? You can not leave before piling on a visit to at least two of the local wineries before driving back to Cape Town International Airport in time for the city offer a sad farewell. When the plane takes off and we see a little late in Cape Town who knows that the promise will return as soon as possible.
